Doctors Day Special: Saved many lives by risking his life, Vyas became a lifesaver, treated without fear

On Doctors’ Day, salute to Vyas who risked his own life to save many—treated patients fearlessly and became a true hero.

During the most deadly second wave of the global pandemic Corona, when there was an atmosphere of fear and uncertainty all around, at that time, Jaisalmer's young physician Dr. Sanjay Vyas not only treated the patients by staying among them, but also encouraged them. During that period, his name started being taken as a lifesaver in Jaisalmer.

This was the time when the corona vaccine was not available and the infection was spreading very fast. Most doctors were forced to provide treatment by keeping a distance from potential patients of Kovid, but Dr. Sanjay went to such patients and kept examining their chest and back like normal days and kept suggesting treatment. During this time, he himself got infected, but even then he kept in touch with the patients on mobile, took information about their health and also prescribed medicines.

In the second wave of Corona, he played a major role in the residential camp set up in Jagani Bhawan by Pushkarna Brahmin Samaj. He used to go to the camp in the morning and evening to examine patients and provide treatment to patients from every section of the society. Dr. Sanjay said that this time was the most challenging in his medical career, but this time also taught him the most.

In his view, the biggest challenge was that despite all efforts, some patients could not be saved. Many times, despite getting timely treatment and the situation being under control, the health of the patients would suddenly deteriorate and they would leave the world. Such experiences forced him to understand the limitations of medical science.

Dr. Sanjay believes that the job of a doctor is not only to treat, but it is equally important to boost the morale of the patient. During the Corona period, he worked by making this thinking his mantra and succeeded in giving a new life to hundreds of people.
