India sealed their third straight win in the Asia Cup 2025, defeating Oman by 21 runs at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi. The game was historic for India as it marked their    250th T20I    and their first-ever international clash against Oman.

Opting to shuffle their lineup, India rested Jasprit Bumrah and sent captain    Suryakumar Yadav    down the order – so far down that he didn’t bat. Still, they posted    188/8   , thanks largely to    Sanju Samson’s 56    and quick cameos from Tilak Varma and Axar Patel.

Oman, playing fearless cricket, made a spirited chase with    Aamir Kaleem (64)    and    Hammad Mirza (51)    striking half-centuries. They finished at    167/4   , falling just short of the target but winning admiration for their intent against the No.1-ranked T20I side.

The night also belonged to    Arshdeep Singh   , who became the    first Indian pacer to 100 T20I wickets   , achieving the milestone in just    68 matches    – the fastest by a pacer in world cricket.

Key Moments

Abhishek Sharma    set the tone early with a quickfire 38 off 15.Sanju Samson promoted to No.3, anchored India’s innings with a patient half-century.

Oman’s    Jiten Ramanandi    impressed with two crucial wickets, including Abhishek Sharma.

In the chase, Oman stood tall, reaching 100/1 in 14 overs and pushing India hard.

Hardik Pandya    broke the key stand, dismissing Mirza after a fiery 30-ball fifty.

Captains Speak

Suryakumar Yadav    praised Oman:    “They played unbelievable cricket. I enjoyed watching them bat. Now, all set for the Super Fours.”

Jatinder Singh   , Oman’s skipper, said:    “Extremely proud of the boys. We lacked experience but showed character. This will give us confidence for the World Cup Qualifiers at home.”

With this win, India topped their group unbeaten and head into the    Super Four stage    brimming with confidence. Oman exit the group stage but leave with heads held high, having pushed the giants hard in a historic encounter.
