Ayush Mhatre Shines with 110 as Mumbai Thrash Vidarbha; Venkatesh Iyer Leads MP to Win Over Bihar in SMAT 2025

India Under-19 Asia Cup captain Ayush Mhatre had a dream Friday, following his captaincy announcement with a sensational century for Mumbai in the Mushtaq Ali Trophy. The 18-year-old opener scored an unbeaten 110 off just 53 balls at Lucknow’s Ekana Stadium, hitting eight fours and eight sixes, guiding Mumbai to a seven-wicket win over Vidarbha in Elite Group B and earning the Player of the Match award.

Mumbai’s victory was further bolstered by Shivam Dubey’s all-round performance, taking 3 wickets for 31 runs and an unbeaten 39, while skipper Suryakumar Yadav contributed a composed 35 off 30 balls. Mhatre and Yadav stitched together a rapid 85-run partnership off 35 deliveries, sealing the chase with authority.

Despite Mumbai losing early wickets—Ajinkya Rahane (0) and Hardik Tamore (1)—Mhatre stabilized the innings alongside Yadav. After Yadav’s dismissal, Dubey finished the job with an unbeaten 39, taking Mumbai to 194/3 in 17.5 overs.

Vidarbha’s Strong Start
Chasing 193, Vidarbha had posted 192/9, powered by half-centuries from Atharva Taide (64 off 36 balls) and Aman Mokhade (61 off 30 balls). The opening pair added 115 runs in the first 10 overs, but Vidarbha fell short of the 200-run mark. Dubey and Sairaj Patil shared six wickets to control the scoring.
