Bangladesh squad announced for ODI series against Sri Lanka: Naim returns after nearly two years, first match on July 2.

Bangladesh has announced a 16-member squad for the upcoming three-match ODI series against Sri Lanka. Mehidy Hasan Miraz has been appointed as the captain for the series.
Pace bowlers Taskin Ahmed and Mustafizur Rahman have returned to the squad after recovering from injuries. T20 captain Litton Das has also been included in the team. Left-handed opener Naim Sheikh makes a comeback to the ODI side after nearly two years.
The first Test match between Bangladesh and Sri Lanka had ended in a draw. The second Test will be played on July 25. After the Test series, the ODI series will follow. The first ODI is scheduled for July 2, and the second for July 5 in Colombo. The third and final ODI will be played on July 8 in Pallekele.
Soumya Sarkar misses out
From the squad that played in the previous Champions Trophy, Mushfiqur Rahim and Mahmudullah have retired from ODI cricket, while Soumya Sarkar and Nasum Ahmed have been left out.
Naim has played 8 ODIs for Bangladesh
Naim Sheikh last played an ODI for Bangladesh in 2023. So far, he has featured in 8 ODIs and scored 95 runs. Bangladesh's chief selector Gazi Ashraf Hossain said, "I believe he has changed his batting pattern. Also, you have to understand we have picked five fast bowlers as many players are returning from injuries."
