The Enforcement Directorate has summoned former cricketer Suresh Raina for questioning today in connection with a betting app case, putting him under legal scrutiny.
Former Indian cricketer Suresh Raina seems to be trapped in the betting app case. ED has summoned Suresh Raina in the betting app case and called him to the office for questioning today (August 13). This whole matter is about illegal betting platform 1xBet. Betting app 1xBet made Suresh Raina its gaming ambassador in December last year. The betting company had then said that our partnership with Suresh Raina will encourage sports betting fans to bet responsibly.
Earlier, the ED investigation team had conducted a search operation at 15 locations in Mumbai, Delhi-NCR, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Madurai and Surat. So that the betting racket operating another betting app 'Parimatch' could be busted.
Let us tell you that the ED has intensified its investigation against illegal online betting platforms in the recent past and is focusing its attention on the advertisements being done by film personalities and cricketers for such betting platforms. As part of the ongoing investigation into the matter of advertising for banned betting platforms 1xBet, FairPlay, Parimatch and Lotus365, the ED has earlier questioned former cricketers Harbhajan Singh and Yuvraj Singh as well as actors Sonu Sood and Urvashi Rautela.
According to ED sources, 'These betting platforms are using pseudonyms like 1xbat and 1xbat Sporting Lines in their advertisements. These ads often contain QR codes that redirect users to betting sites. This is a blatant violation of Indian law. Notices have been issued to some celebrities advertising for such betting platforms.
