Former Indian spinner Ashwin accused of ball tampering: Tamil Nadu Premier League franchise Madurai Panthers filed a complaint; CEO demanded evidence.
Former Indian spinner Ravichandran Ashwin has been accused of ball tampering. These allegations were made by the Madurai Panthers team, which is participating in the Tamil Nadu Premier League. The franchise has also lodged a complaint with league CEO Prasanna Kannan regarding the matter.
In the complaint, Madurai Panthers stated, "Ashwin and his team tampered with the ball during the match played on June 14 at the SCF Cricket Ground. Ashwin and his team used towels treated with a special chemical. This altered the condition of the ball. When the ball made contact with the bat, it produced a metallic sound. Even after repeated warnings, Ashwin and his team did not comply."
Dindigul Dragons won that match by 9 wickets. Ashwin did not take any wickets in the match but scored 49 runs.
