"Mumbai reaches the top, Rajasthan out of playoffs: SRH must win all remaining matches, Suryakumar tops Orange Cap race."
"Fifty league-stage matches have been completed in the Indian Premier League (IPL 2025). On Thursday, Mumbai registered their sixth consecutive win, defeating Rajasthan Royals by 100 runs. With this loss, RR became the second team to be eliminated from the playoff race. On the other hand, Mumbai has climbed to the top of the points table."
Rajasthan Out of Playoff Race, Mumbai Tops the Table
Playing their 11th match of the season at Jaipur’s Sawai Mansingh Stadium, Mumbai posted a massive total of 217 runs for the loss of just 2 wickets. In response, Rajasthan Royals were bowled out for 117 in 16.1 overs.
This was Rajasthan’s 8th defeat in 11 matches. With just 3 wins and 6 points, they are now in 8th place and officially out of the playoff race. Even if they win their remaining three matches, they can only reach 12 points, which is not enough to qualify.
With this win, Mumbai have further strengthened their chances of making the playoffs. They secured their 7th victory in 11 matches and now sit at the top of the points table with 14 points from 4 losses. To qualify on their own terms, Mumbai now needs to win just 2 of their remaining 3 matches.
SRH Must Win All Remaining Matches
Today in the IPL, Gujarat Titans will face Sunrisers Hyderabad. SRH currently sit in 9th place with 6 points from 3 wins and 6 losses in 9 matches. A win today would keep their playoff hopes alive. However, they would still need to win all four of their remaining matches and maintain a better net run rate than the other teams.
If SRH lose today, their playoff path becomes very difficult—they would then have to rely not only on winning the rest of their games but also on favorable results from other teams.
Gujarat Can Reach the Top
Gujarat Titans have 12 points from 6 wins and 3 losses in 9 matches. If they win today’s match, they can move to the top of the table with 14 points. However, for that to happen, their net run rate must be better than Mumbai’s.
If GT lose today, they will need to win at least 3 of their remaining 4 matches to secure a playoff spot on their own.
