Police File Chargesheet in Gurugram Tennis Player Radhika Yadav Murder Case: Father Named Accused

In a shocking case from Gurugram, police have filed a chargesheet in the murder of national-level tennis player Radhika Yadav, naming her father, Deepak Yadav, as the accused.

The murder took place on July 10, 2025, at their home in Sector 57, where Deepak allegedly shot Radhika four times while she was cooking. He was arrested at the scene, and the licensed firearm used in the crime has been seized and presented as evidence in court.

Repeated Shots in a Fit of Rage
According to police, Deepak fired multiple shots in a fit of anger, four of which struck Radhika, killing her instantly. During preliminary investigations, he reportedly confessed that he had acted out of resentment after villagers taunted him for allegedly living off his daughter’s earnings.

Radhika: A Promising Tennis Talent
Radhika Yadav had earned recognition at the national level as a tennis player. Following a shoulder injury, she stepped away from competitive play but continued to train young players at a rented court near her home. Deepak had repeatedly asked her to stop this work, but she refused, which led to mounting tension between them.

Details in the Chargesheet
After a three-month investigation, Sector 56 police submitted a 420-page chargesheet to the district court on Friday. The document notes a long-standing conflict between father and daughter, with Deepak reportedly forbidding Radhika from leaving the house and giving coaching sessions.

Sources indicate that the chargesheet emphasizes the murder was motivated by perceived threats to family honor, rather than any disputes over marriage or romantic relationships. Other family members were questioned but could not provide substantive information regarding the conflict.

Next Hearing Scheduled
Advocate Shyambir Singh, representing Deepak Yadav, confirmed that the next hearing regarding the chargesheet is set for October 17, 2025. He added that he has not yet received a copy of the document and will comment further once he reviews it.
