With three rounds still remaining, the Indian remains a serious contender for the prestigious title and valuable Grand Chess Tour points.
Pragg Holds Aronian
Playing against Aronian, Praggnanandhaa faced a difficult middlegame but showed strong defensive technique to secure the half-point.
The Indian tried to create winning chances and briefly faced pressure after losing two pawns. Aronian, however, was unable to convert his advantage, allowing Praggnanandhaa to hold the position and force a draw.
Three Points Behind the Lead
The draw moved Praggnanandhaa to 3.5/6, placing him alongside Fabiano Caruana, Vincent Keymer and Maxime Vachier-Lagrave in the chasing group.

Keymer Defeat Did Not Derail Campaign
The Indian subsequently suffered his first defeat of the tournament against Germany's Vincent Keymer in the third round. Playing with the black pieces, Praggnanandhaa was unable to recover from an early tactical error and eventually lost the game.
He responded immediately in the following round by defeating Jorden van Foreest with the white pieces. That victory took him to 2.5 points from four rounds and restored his position in the leading group.
