'Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli will not play ODI WC 2027…', the great cricketer's claim gave a big shock to Indian fans

New Delhi. Sunil Gavaskar Statement: Former Indian cricketer Sunil Gavaskar has made a big prediction. In an interview to India Today, he said that Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli will not be part of the Indian team in the ODI World Cup 2027. Gavaskar said that both these batsmen have performed brilliantly in this 50-over format, but both of them will not play the ODI World Cup 2027.

Actually, Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma have announced their retirement from Test cricket. Rohit announced on 7 May that he is retiring from Test cricket. At the same time, 5 days after his retirement i.e. on 12 May, Virat Kohli announced his retirement from Test. Both these giants had earlier retired together from the T20 format after winning the T20 World Cup 2024 title. Now both these giants will be seen playing only in the ODI format.

Virat and Rohit were part of the Indian team that won the Champions Trophy title. Team India's performance in the last ODI World Cup was also amazing. India entered the final match without losing any match. Now Team India has to play in the ODI World Cup 2027.

Gavaskar said that it is unlikely that both of them will be able to retain their place in the Indian team. Gavaskar further said that no, I don't think they will play. I am very honest. But, who knows, next year or so, if they get into great form, and if they keep scoring centuries and centuries, then even God cannot leave them. Let us tell you that Rohit will be 40 years old by the ODI World Cup 2027, while Virat will be 38 years old.
