Deepti Sharma’s Heroics Power India to 1-0 Lead Against England Women

Deepti Sharma smashed a brilliant half-century to lead India Women to victory in the 1st ODI against England Women, giving the visitors a 1-0 lead in the series. India chased down the target with composure and confidence in a dominant all-round display.

On the basis of the excellent innings of Deepti Sharma (62 *), the Indian women's cricket team defeated England by four wickets with 10 balls to spare in the first ODI. Deepti was chosen as the Player of the Match for her brilliant performance. By registering a win in Southampton, the Indian women's team has taken a 1-0 lead in the three-match ODI series. The second ODI between India and England will be played at Lord's.

In the match played in Southampton, England won the toss and decided to bat first. The host team scored 258 runs for the loss of 6 wickets in the stipulated 50 overs on the basis of half-centuries from Sophia Dunkley (83) and Alice Davidson Richards (53). In reply, India achieved the target by losing 6 wickets in 48.2 overs.
