Dongargarh Ropeway Resumes After 22 Days

Service Restarts Amid Ongoing Mystery Over Accident Cause

Dongargarh Ropeway Resumes After 22 Days

After a 22-day suspension, the Dongargarh ropeway has resumed operations. However, the cause of the recent accident that halted the service remains officially 'unknown', raising concerns over safety and transparency.

22 days after the ropeway accident on April 24, the ropeway of Maa Bamleshwari temple in Dongargarh has been started once again. After the formalities of technical improvement and safety check, the operation started, but the biggest question still remains in the air that why did the trolley overturn? And whose fault was it?

At the time of the accident, many people including BJP state general secretary Bharat Verma were riding in the trolley. As soon as the trolley reached the station, it suddenly overturned. Bharat Verma was seriously injured and his treatment is still going on in Raipur hospital. After the incident, the administration showed promptness and closed the ropeway, ordered an investigation, FIR was also registered but even after 22 days have passed, no one is ready to tell what was the real reason for the accident.

The temple trust, the ropeway operating company and the district administration all said in one voice that technical investigation was done, improvements were made and the ropeway is now safe. If the trust is to be believed, the team of NIT Raipur and Damodar Ropeway Company jointly investigated and the points where flaws were found were rectified. But when the question comes to the culprits, the answer is only silence. The police is also limited to watching the CCTV footage and taking statements of the employees. There is no charge sheet, no arrest. On the other hand, SDM sahab says that “the report has been sent to the top.” That is, the responsibility of the accident has now been left to the ‘higher one’. Whether the higher one means the administrative ‘higher one’ or God, it is the responsibility of the public to understand this.

The ropeway may have started again after 22 days, but both fear and questions are still alive in the minds of the public. The improvements made after the accident may be technical, but when will the sluggishness in the system and the habit of running away from responsibility be improved? Anyway, the ropeway of Dongargarh has started running again, but is the trolley of justice still stuck somewhere?
