 Soldiers Foil Naxal IED Trap Near Poklane Machinery

Security forces successfully thwarted a Naxal attack by detecting and defusing an improvised explosive device (IED) planted in front of a Poklane machine. A second IED was later discovered behind the excavator during a thorough search. The timely action prevented potential casualties and ensured the safe continuation of road construction in the area.

 
 

ASP Akash Rao Girpunje was martyred in an IED blast near Dondra on the Konta-Errabora road today. Many policemen have been injured, whose treatment is going on in Raipur hospital. Another IED has been found at the same place where ASP Akash Rao was martyred due to pressure IED blast, which was defused by the BDS team on the spot.

The Naxalites had planted two IEDs at the incident site. Pressure IEDs were installed on both the back and front of the Poklane. Police and CRPF officials who went out on search after the incident recovered another IED during the investigation of the incident site, which was destroyed on the spot.

Let us tell you, ASP Akash Rao Girpunje had gone on foot patrol today on June 9 morning along with Deputy Superintendent of Police Konta Bhanupratap Chandrakar, Inspector Sonal Gawla and other soldiers to investigate the incident of burning of vehicles by Naxalites in the area. During this, Akash and other policemen were seriously injured in an IED explosion near Dondra on the Konta-Errabora road.

Along with ASP Akash Rao, Bhanu Pratap Chandrakar (Sub-Divisional Police Officer, Konta) and Inspector Sonal Gawla (Station In-charge, Konta) were also injured in this incident. All the injured were brought to Konta Hospital for initial treatment, where ASP Akash Rao died during treatment. The body of martyr Akash Girpunje and the injured soldiers were brought to Raipur.
