Bilaspur trains restored update: 14 trains resumed and Hasdeo Express runs as express again after rail work disruption.
Train services in the Bilaspur division of South East Central Railway have started returning to normal after temporary disruptions caused by infrastructure work. A total of 14 trains that were cancelled on April 10 and 11 have now been restored, offering relief to thousands of passengers traveling across key routes.
The cancellations were necessary due to ongoing fourth line connectivity work near Akaltara station. With progress in the project, railway authorities have resumed operations of the affected trains in a phased manner.
Hasdeo Express to Continue as Express Train
Earlier, railway officials had decided to operate the Korba–Raipur–Korba Hasdeo Express as a passenger train for a limited period. However, this decision has now been withdrawn. The train will continue to run in its original express category, ensuring faster travel and fewer stoppages for commuters.
This change comes as a significant relief for daily passengers who depend on this route for timely travel between major cities.
Impact on Key Routes and Passenger Relief
Passengers traveling to and from Raipur, Bilaspur, Raigarh, Gevra Road, Jharsuguda, and Gondia will benefit from the restoration. The decision to resume train services has eased travel concerns that arose due to sudden cancellations.
However, not all disruptions have ended. Railway authorities have announced that 10 passenger trains will remain cancelled on different dates between April 11 and April 27. These cancellations are part of scheduled maintenance and infrastructure upgrades.
Ongoing Fourth Line Construction Work
The primary reason behind these disruptions is the construction of a fourth railway line between Bilaspur and Jharsuguda. This project involves yard connectivity upgrades and non-interlocking work at Akaltara station, which requires temporary suspension of train movements for safety and technical reasons.
Such infrastructure improvements are aimed at increasing line capacity and improving long-term efficiency in train operations.
Additional Train Cancellations and Diversions
Apart from passenger trains, several long-distance trains like Chhattisgarh Express, Gondwana Express, and Samta Express will also remain cancelled on selected dates until April 27. These disruptions are linked to track work near Gondia station and ongoing upgrades in the Bilaspur division.
Railway authorities have advised passengers to check schedules in advance and plan their journeys accordingly.
Temporary Operational Adjustments
In a separate arrangement, railway officials stated that between April 16 and April 27, the Hasdeo Express may operate as a passenger train between Korba and Bilaspur for specific dates. These temporary adjustments are being made to manage traffic during construction work.
Passengers are encouraged to stay updated through official railway announcements for real-time information.
