25-ft Ambedkar statue to be installed in new Vidhan Sabha
Raipur,C.G
Speaker Dr. Raman Singh has recommended installation of a 25-feet high statue of Babasaheb Ambedkar in the newly constructed Vidhan Sabha building.
A grand statue of Bharat Ratna Baba Saheb Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar, the architect of the Indian Constitution, more than 25 feet high, will be installed in the newly constructed Chhattisgarh Vidhan Sabha building complex located in Nava Raipur Atal Nagar. Chhattisgarh Assembly Speaker Dr. Raman Singh has written a letter to Chief Minister Vishnudev Sai for this and recommended necessary action as per rules.
The Assembly Speaker has also urged the Chief Minister to issue necessary instructions to the Public Works Department and the concerned officials in this regard soon. He said that the state of Chhattisgarh has achieved remarkable achievements in the journey of 25 years of its formation. Inspired by the principles of freedom, equality, justice and fraternity enshrined in the Constitution, this state is continuously moving forward in the direction of inclusive development. He said that this grand statue of Dr. Ambedkar proposed in the newly constructed Vidhan Sabha complex will not only pay due respect to the Constitution maker, but will also become a symbol of inspiration of social equality, justice and democratic values for future generations.
It is noteworthy that Baba Saheb Dr. Ambedkar came to Raipur on 12 December 1945 and addressed a historic public meeting at the present Madhavrao Sapre School Campus (erstwhile Lori School). This visit empowered the land of Chhattisgarh with his thoughts and personality. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the newly constructed Vidhan Sabha Bhawan in Nava Raipur on the occasion of Chhattisgarh State Foundation Day and Chhattisgarh Silver Festival.
This initiative has been taken by Dr. Ambedkar Welfare Society (AWS). Society Chairman Dilip Wasnikar and the delegation met the Assembly Speaker a few days ago and submitted a memorandum. He requested to install this statue in the Silver Jubilee year of the establishment of the state and called it a historic step towards social equality and promotion of democratic values.
