Strict Action on Ganja: Police to Arrest and Jail Offenders

Police have announced a tough crackdown on ganja consumption—those caught smoking it will now face immediate arrest and jail time as part of intensified anti-drug enforcement.

Raipur Police is continuously taking action against the illegal trade of ganja in the city. After taking action against people involved in illegal ganja trade, now those who consume ganja in public places are being arrested. Now those who smoke ganja are also being brought under the ambit of police action. In two days, the police have caught seven people smoking ganja. The police recovered chillum, ganja, lighter etc. from them and registered a case under 27 NDPS Acts. All the accused have been presented in the court and sent to jail.

Environment is getting spoiled due to the nuisance of drug addicts

In almost all the police stations, complaints of the nuisance of drug addicts and the environment getting spoiled due to abusive language on the streets come to the fore. Raipur Range IG Amarej Mishra, after holding a review meeting recently, has given instructions to take action against people involved in illegal drug trade and those who support them under various provisions of the NDPS Act.
