Abhanpur–Rajim Passenger Train Soon to Launch After GM Inspection

Following a detailed inspection by the Railway General Manager, the railway track between Abhanpur and Rajim is ready. Trial runs have been conducted at speeds up to 110 km/h, and officials have issued safety guidelines. Railways expect the passenger train to begin operating shortly.

Passenger train service on the Abhanpur-Rajim rail section is likely to start in the month of July. Preparations are being made to run trains on the broad gauge line between Abhanpur and Dhamtari by December. General Manager Tarun Prakash inspected the security arrangements and other preparations at the RSD yard, Abhanpur station and the under-construction Rajim station. During this, he gave necessary instructions to the officials.

It is worth noting that MEMU train service is already operating between Raipur-Abhanpur, which is currently running in loss. Railways hopes that with the start of train service to Rajim, the number of passengers will increase, which will make the service more profitable.

Trial of new broad gauge completed
The trial of the broad gauge line between Abhanpur-Rajim has been completed, while the work of gauge conversion between Abhanpur-Dhamtari is going on at a fast pace. The target is to complete it by December. With the completion of these rail projects, the major religious, cultural and tourist places of the state will be connected to the broad gauge network. Direct rail connectivity to Rajim will provide convenient travel options to passengers, besides giving new impetus to regional trade, agriculture, pilgrimage and tourism.
