Bastar Police Seize ₹1.30 Crore Worth of Ganja and Hash Oil in Jagdalpur
Digital Desk
Police in Jagdalpur have seized around 10 kg of ganja and hash oil (liquid cannabis) worth approximately ₹1.29 crore, arresting two smugglers from Odisha. The accused were transporting the contraband from Odisha and intended to supply it to Hyderabad, Mumbai, and Pune.
The incident took place in the Bodhgahat police station area. Acting on a tip-off, police intercepted the suspects near Sargipal, close to the railway siding, on Sunday. The duo had packed ganja and hash oil in bags and were travelling via bike.
How the Smugglers Were Caught
Police had received information that two youths on a motorcycle (OD 30 D 6588) were transporting illegal narcotic oil from Odisha's Malkangiri, passing through Darbha and Keshlur, toward Sargipal. Based on this input, a team led by Bodhgahat SHO Leeladhar Rathore set up a checkpoint and intercepted the bike.
During questioning, the riders identified themselves as Sitaram Kuldeep (35) and Ramchandra Madi (21), both residents of Koraput, Odisha. A search of their bags revealed 10 kg of hash oil and ganja-based liquid. Lab tests confirmed the substance as high-value hash oil.
Further Action
Police seized the narcotics and arrested both men. They were produced in court and sent to judicial custody. According to CSP Sumeet Kumar, the two work as electricians in Hyderabad and frequently smuggle hash oil from Odisha to sell illegally. Major cities like Hyderabad, Mumbai, and Pune reportedly have high demand for this substance.
What Is Hash Oil?
Hash oil (Hashish oil) is an oleoresin extracted multiple times from marijuana or cannabis plants. It is a thick, dark liquid that becomes denser when exposed to air. It is considered one of the most potent forms of cannabis and is typically consumed through smoking, ingestion, or vaporization.
