Bhojraj Nag, the BJP MP from Chhattisgarh’s Kanker Lok Sabha seat, has once again issued a sharp warning to government officials. Upset over illegal mining activities and officers not responding to public grievances, he said, “Any officer who does not answer calls or resolve people’s issues we will cut lemons for all of them.”
Nag, who was in Dhamtari on Thursday for a press conference marking the 150th birth anniversary of Birsa Munda, reiterated that illegal mining in the region would be strictly dealt with. He also emphasised that ignoring public complaints would not be tolerated.
The MP said that surveillance on illegal sand mining around Dhamtari would be intensified. “Tell me which officials don’t pick up calls or listen to peoplewe will cut lemons for all of them,” he added.
Nag is already known for his bold statements. About a year ago, he had made headlines for saying he would “cut lemons to remove the ghosts” of officers with a “rigid mindset,” claiming he would start doing so again after six months.
He has also been involved in past controversies including a viral incident where he was heard using abusive language against a contractor. Former Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel had criticised him then, saying that while the MP’s anger was understandable, using such language did not befit a public representative.
