Chhattisgarh Weather Update: Mercury to Drop Further, Intense Cold Wave Returns in Several Districts

After a brief relief, winter is tightening its grip once again across Chhattisgarh. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecasted a sharp drop in temperature by 2–3°C in most parts of the state over the next three days, signaling the return of biting cold, especially in northern regions.

Ambikapur Records State’s Lowest Temperature at 7.5°C

In the last 24 hours, Ambikapur emerged as the coldest place in Chhattisgarh with the minimum temperature plunging to 7.5°C. Surguja and Korea divisions are already experiencing peak winter conditions, forcing residents to light bonfires early in the morning. Dense fog in rural areas has also reduced visibility, making morning commutes challenging.

Other key cities recorded the following minimum temperatures:

- Pendra Road: 12.5°C

- Jagdalpur: 14°C

- Durg: 15°C

- Bilaspur & Mana (Raipur Airport): 15.8°C

- Rajnandgaon: 16°C

Why the Sudden Drop in Temperature?

Cold northwesterly winds blowing from snow-clad northern India are sweeping across Chhattisgarh. Clear skies at night are causing rapid radiation cooling, leading to a further dip in night and early morning temperatures. Weather experts warn that this pattern will persist for the next 2–3 days, making December’s onset even harsher.

Raipur Weather Today (27 November 2025)

The state capital will see mainly clear skies throughout the day with bright sunshine offering slight daytime relief. However, as soon as the sun sets, the chill will intensify.

- Expected temperature range in Raipur: 16°C to 28°C

- Evening and night: Sharp drop; warm clothing advised

Health Advisory Issued

Doctors have urged senior citizens, children, and people with respiratory issues to take extra precautions. It is advisable to:

- Cover the body fully while stepping out in the early morning or late night

- Avoid sudden exposure to cold

- Stay hydrated and consume warm fluids

Light to moderate fog is likely in rural and semi-urban areas during early mornings, so motorists are advised to drive carefully and use fog lights.

Cold Wave to Intensify from November 28 Onwards

With continuous inflow of cold winds and persistent clear skies, the state is bracing for a prolonged spell of intense winter. Northern Chhattisgarh (Surguja, Surajpur, Koriya, Balrampur) will remain the coldest zone, while central and southern districts will also witness a noticeable drop in mercury.
