Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai hoisted the national flag at the police parade ground in Bilaspur on Republic Day, reviewed the ceremonial parade, and addressed citizens, highlighting the state government’s priorities and commitment to development. The event marked the official district-level celebrations of the 77th Republic Day.

After unfurling the Tricolour, the Chief Minister took the salute from marching contingents and inspected the parade. The programme featured colourful tableaux depicting the state’s development initiatives and welfare schemes, drawing applause from the gathered audience. Several government departments participated with themed displays showcasing progress in governance, infrastructure, and social welfare.

Adding to the celebrations, school students presented cultural programmes set to patriotic songs. Their performances, marked by synchronised choreography and nationalistic themes, reflected the spirit of the occasion and received a warm response from attendees. The Chief Minister later presented awards and commendation certificates to employees recognised for outstanding service in their respective departments.

Elaborate Arrangements at Venue

In view of the Chief Minister’s visit, the district administration made extensive arrangements at the police parade ground. The venue was decorated for the occasion, with seating arrangements for the public, designated parking areas, uninterrupted power supply, and other essential facilities put in place to ensure a smooth event. Officials said crowd management and security measures were strengthened to maintain order during the ceremony.

Participation in Vande Mataram Anniversary Event

Chief Minister Sai had arrived in Bilaspur on Sunday evening and participated in several local programmes ahead of Republic Day. On the eve of the celebrations, he attended a special event at River View marking the 150th anniversary of the song “Vande Mataram.” The programme featured a performance by the Railway Protection Force (RPF) band, which rendered patriotic melodies and held the audience’s attention late into the night.

Following the event, the Chief Minister stayed overnight at the New Circuit House before attending the Republic Day समारोह the next morning.

Praise for Police Awareness Drive

During the celebrations, the Chief Minister praised the police department’s ‘Chetna’ awareness campaign, aimed at promoting social responsibility and public awareness. A short film prepared as part of the campaign was screened at the venue. Senior Superintendent of Police Rajnesh Singh briefed attendees on the objectives and impact of the initiative.

Officials said the Republic Day programme in Bilaspur reflected a blend of ceremonial tradition, public participation, and emphasis on governance and social awareness.
