Congress Protest in Balrampur Against Poor Health Services: Effigy of Minister Burned

The Block Congress Committee held a strong protest on Tuesday against the deteriorating state of health services.
The demonstration was organized in response to the death of Guddu, a young man from the Pahadi Korwa tribe of village Madneshwarpur, who lost his life due to delays in treatment and the unavailability of an ambulance.

According to reports, on October 4, Guddu was seriously injured in a road accident and was first taken to Sarguja Medical College. Later, he was referred to Raipur, but a government ambulance could not be arranged even after 24 hours. As a result, he died on the way.

Angered by Guddu’s death, members of the Congress, Youth Congress, and NSUI held a strong protest under the leadership of Block President Sunil Singh at 2 p.m. in front of the Congress office. The protesters also burned an effigy of the state’s Health Minister, Shyam Bihari Jaiswal, and raised slogans.

Main Demands and Warnings of the Protesters:

·         The protesters alleged that the state’s health system has completely collapsed.

·         Poor and tribal communities are not getting timely medical treatment.

·         The workers warned that if immediate improvements are not made in health services, the agitation will be intensified.

The protest concluded peacefully, but the message was clear — people are deeply angry over the worsening condition of health services in the state.
