Constable Recruitment 2025: Candidates allege irregularities low scorers selected, merit candidates excluded; same applicant listed in multiple districts

Fresh allegations of large-scale manipulation have surfaced in the Chhattisgarh Constable Recruitment 2025, echoing the controversies previously seen in the state’s SI recruitment. Candidates from several districts reached the Bilaspur High Court claiming widespread irregularities in the selection process. They alleged that many low-scoring applicants were selected while several higher-scoring candidates were left out. In some cases, the same candidate’s name appeared in three or more district lists.

On Thursday, hundreds of candidates gathered outside the High Court but were dispersed by police. They later assembled at the police ground and resolved to file petitions in court on Friday.

The recruitment drive for 5,967 constable posts was conducted across all 33 districts. After district-wise selection lists were released on December 9, candidates began protesting, alleging serious discrepancies. On December 11, thousands arrived in Bilaspur and compiled a district-by-district record of anomalies.

Candidates claimed that in multiple districts, those with lower scores were selected while higher-scoring applicants were rejected. Several districts reportedly showed identical application numbers with different names. Candidates argue that since any person can join only one district, multiple listings for a single individual will leave numerous posts vacant and deprive deserving candidates of opportunities.

Irregularities were also alleged in the waiting list. In some cases, the same applicant’s name appeared simultaneously in the unreserved and reserved categories. Additionally, districts released results in different formats sometimes only with application numbers, sometimes with names leading candidates to suspect attempts to obscure identities.

On Thursday evening, candidates met SSP Rajnesh Singh and sought permission to sit at the police ground to compile evidence. The SSP instructed officials not to remove the candidates from the venue.
