Sakshi Dwivedi, who lived with her in-laws in Rajnandgaon, had arrived at Power House railway station by the Chhattisgarh Express. Her father had come to pick her up, and both were heading toward their home in Bhilai-3 on a motorcycle.
As they passed under the Power House overbridge, a fast-moving trailer rammed into their bike from behind. The impact flung her father to one side, but Sakshi fell backward onto the road and was run over by the trailer, which dragged her several metres. She died on the spot, while her father suffered serious injuries.
According to her family, Sakshi was married in February 2024. The family was still settling into their new happiness when this devastating tragedy struck. Upon receiving the news, her husband and in-laws rushed to Bhilai. Her husband broke down repeatedly as the reality sank in.
Came Frequently to Visit Her Sick Mother
Sakshi often visited her maternal home because her mother had been unwell for some time. Weekends were usually spent with her family. That morning too, she had come only to check on her mother's health—but fate had other plans.
Father Overwhelmed with Guilt
Sakshi’s father is deeply distressed, blaming himself for the tragedy. He repeatedly said that had he not gone to the station or chosen a different route, his daughter might still be alive. Family members are trying to console him, but the shock has left him shattered.
Driver Absconding; Police Investigating
The case falls under the jurisdiction of the Khursipar police station. After the accident, the trailer driver fled the scene. Police have launched a search for the driver and the vehicle, reviewing nearby CCTV footage for clues.
Sakshi’s body has been kept at Supela Mortuary for post-mortem. Her family, engulfed in grief, is struggling to accept the sudden loss of their beloved daughter. Police have assured that the absconding driver will be arrested soon and strict legal action will follow.
