Heroin Smuggling Busted in Raipur: Two Arrested with Drugs Worth ₹1.49 Lakh

In a significant strike against drug trafficking, Raipur Police have apprehended two individuals and seized heroin worth ₹1.49 lakh. The action was taken under the ongoing anti-narcotics campaign in the capital city.

According to officials, the incident occurred near Punjabi Dhaba on New Bypass Road, within the Amanaka police jurisdiction. Based on a confidential tip-off, police raided the location where two suspicious individuals were spotted inside an Alto car, allegedly waiting to sell illegal substances.

Upon search, the team discovered 14.09 grams of heroin, commonly known as chitta, from the possession of the accused. The estimated street value of the seized drug is approximately ₹1.49 lakh.

The arrested individuals have been identified as Sylvester Rozesh, a resident of Amanaka, and Vijay Sinha, from Heerapur, Amanaka. Both confessed during initial questioning that they were looking for buyers for the heroin.

A case has been registered under the NDPS Act (Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act), and the accused have been taken into judicial custody.

Raipur Police emphasized that surveillance and enforcement efforts are being intensified across all city police zones. Special teams have been tasked with monitoring suspected drug networks and cracking down on supply routes.
