Huge cache of illegal liquor seized in Kabirdham

Police seized a large quantity of illegal liquor in Kabirdham during a special drive, taking major action against liquor smuggling.
The Excise Department has taken major action against the manufacture, storage and sale of illegal liquor in Kabirdham district. This action was taken on the morning of 29 August under the direction of Excise Commissioner R. Sangeeta and guidance of Collector Gopal Verma. A total of 03 cases were registered in this action taken under the special direction of District Excise Officer Ajay Singh Dhurve.
During the action, 105 bulk liters of Mahua liquor (worth about Rs 10,500) was seized, while 840 kg of Mahua Lahan (worth about Rs 42,000) was destroyed on the spot.
15 bulk liters of Mahua liquor was seized from the house of Jayta Ram Meravi, a resident of village Sarodha, and a crime was registered against the accused under Section 34 (2) of the Excise Act and judicial remand proceedings are being carried out. 15 bulk liters of Mahua liquor was also recovered from the house of another accused Shauki Ram of the same village, however, the accused fled from the spot.
Apart from this, 75 bulk litres of Mahua liquor and 840 kg of Mahua lahan were found abandoned near the drain in Sarodha village. In this case, a crime has been registered against the unknown accused and investigation has been started.
This entire operation was carried out under the leadership of Assistant District Excise Officer Manoj Kumar Rathore with the active participation of Excise Sub Inspector Abhinav Raijada, Geeta Sahu, Ramanand Diwan and constables Kamal Meshram, Imtiaz Khan and other staff.
