In Kanker district of Chhattisgarh, Forest Minister Kedar Kashyap inaugurated the newly developed Indru Kevat Nature Park in Jasakarra village of Charama block. Built at an estimated cost of ₹50 lakh, the park is set to become a hub for environmental conservation and eco-tourism in the Bastar region, spreading across nearly two hectares of forest land.

Speaking at the inauguration, Minister Kedar Kashyap highlighted the park’s ecological importance and emphasized that future developments should prioritize nature and minimize the use of concrete. He expressed pride in Bastar’s dense forest cover and urged the community to understand and protect the region’s natural heritage.

Local MLA Savitri Mandavi said the park’s inauguration would benefit the public and promote environmental awareness. She also stressed that the protection of forests and wildlife is a shared responsibility.

Developed in the Sirsida Beat, Section No. 1474 of the Charama forest range, the Indru Kevat Nature Park was funded under the 2024-25 environmental forestry budget at a cost of ₹49.85 lakh. The park aims to provide environmental education, foster sensitivity toward wildlife, and encourage nature conservation among the public. It is designed to bring citizens, students, tourists, and researchers closer to the ecological and biological diversity of the region.

Facilities and Flora

The park features a main entrance, ticket counter, nature trails, lawns, gardens, open gym, children’s play area, pagodas for seating, fountains, toilets, an overhead tank for plant irrigation, and bamboo structures. Around 40 flowering plant species, 50 tree species, 20 medicinal plants, and 17 types of bamboo have been planted.
