A shocking incident was reported from Kawardha district’s Bodla police station area, where the body of a newborn was found floating in a well near Ranidhara village on Saturday. Early on 21 November, villagers noticed the infant’s body and immediately informed the police.
A police team reached the spot and, with the help of locals, recovered the body. Treating the case as suspicious, officers have begun an investigation and are collecting information from nearby villages to identify the newborn and determine how the body ended up in the well.
The discovery created panic and grief in the village. Many women broke down in tears after seeing the infant, and the area was engulfed in silence and shock. Locals have condemned the incident as tragic and deeply disturbing.
According to the Bodla Station In-Charge, the cause of death will be confirmed only after the post-mortem report is received. Police are examining all possible angles and questioning residents in the vicinity.
Local analysts and community members say such incidents are a serious reminder of societal challenges, raising questions about safety, awareness, and humanity. Authorities have urged people not to spread rumors and to cooperate with the investigation. Surveillance around the area has also been increased.
The incident has sparked concern across Kawardha and the surrounding region, highlighting once again the need for stronger child protection, social awareness, and community responsibility.
