Korba Athletes Win 32 Medals at All India Karate Championship

The Korba district team delivered an impressive performance at the All India Open Karate Championship held on 19–20 November 2025 at Agrasen Dham in Raipur, securing a total of 32 medals. The tally includes 5 gold, 6 silver and 21 bronze medals, marking a strong showing at the national-level event.

The championship was conducted under the rules and standards of the Karate India Organisation (KIO) and supervised by Asian-qualified referees. The event was organised by Seiko-Kai Karate-Do Association and Bharat Karate Academy.

Five athletes win gold

Gold medals were bagged by Arnav Yadav, Mia Francis Alappat, Jasmine Kurre, Vansh Singh Rathore and Bhavishya Raj.

Silver medalists include Yuvraj Gogoi, Archana Sarathi, Angel Yadav, Aman Toppo, Kunal Puri Goswami and Anuradha Patel.

Twenty-one participants earned bronze medals: Mudra Srivastava, Arya Sethi, Anshika Agrawal, Swati Ogare, Purvika Adile, Vanya Rathore, Paras Banjare, Ruchi Rahangdale, Shamir Joel Kumar, Lomash Prasad Sinha, Aditya Sarathi, Khushal Singh Rathore, M.D. Farhan Raza, Arghya Singh, Francis Kujur, Gunjan Dewangan, Rohan Srivas, Yash Prajapati, Nevan R. Pillai and Sameer Kanwar.

A total of 32 athletes from Korba competed across various age groups and weight categories in kumite events.

Grand welcome on return to Korba

After the tournament concluded, the athletes received a grand welcome at Korba railway station. Families, sports enthusiasts and coaches greeted them with music, flowers and traditional tilak.

Korba District Karate-Do Sports Association president Avinash Banjare, who led the team, praised the contingent’s performance, noting that while several districts from Chhattisgarh performed well, Korba’s results stood out.

“Sports instill discipline, confidence and positive energy, and our players have demonstrated this perfectly,” Banjare said.

The event in Raipur was attended by chief guest Tank Ram Verma and national president Sihan Bharat Sharma.
