Labourer Murdered in Mainpat, Accused Co-worker on the Run — Victim’s Head Crushed in Brutal Attack

A shocking incident occurred on Monday night in Kudari Deeh village of Mainpat block, Surguja district, Chhattisgarh. A 24-year-old labourer from West Bengal was brutally killed after his head was crushed by a fellow worker.

According to police, the deceased, identified as Raju (24), had been working for the past few months as a mason at an under-construction site in the Vasundhara City Colony project. He and his co-worker, also from West Bengal, lived in a temporary hut near the construction site.

On Monday night, an argument reportedly broke out between the two after they consumed alcohol. The dispute escalated, and the accused allegedly attacked Raju with a heavy stone, killing him on the spot.

The next morning, local villagers found Raju’s blood-soaked body and informed the Kamleshwarpur police. Station in-charge Manoj Prajapati arrived at the scene with his team and began an investigation.

Initial findings suggest the victim died due to a severe head injury caused by a heavy object. The accused is currently absconding, and police have launched a search operation to trace him.

The body has been sent for post-mortem, and a case has been registered. The incident has sent shockwaves through the area.
