New Year Celebrations Under Tight Watch: DJs to Stop After 10 pm, CCTV Recording Mandatory; Licences to Be Cancelled for Violations

Ahead of New Year celebrations, Raipur Police have issued strict guidelines to maintain law and order and prevent unlawful activities across the city and the state. DJs will not be allowed to operate after 10 pm at hotels, restaurants, cafés, dhabas, farmhouses and bars. Any violation, including serving liquor without a valid licence or use of banned substances, will invite strict action, including cancellation of operating licences.

Senior police officials conveyed these instructions during a meeting with owners and operators of hospitality establishments in the capital on Monday. Police clarified that all New Year parties must be conducted under CCTV surveillance to ensure accountability and provide evidence in case of disputes or illegal activities.

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Lal Ummed Singh said that establishments located in outer areas of the city must close between 12:00 midnight and 12:30 am on New Year’s night. Legal action will also be taken against anyone found consuming or serving alcohol at public places or inside vehicles. If incidents of hooliganism, violence or consumption of dry drugs are reported during any event, the organiser will be held fully responsible.

The police have also made parking arrangements a mandatory responsibility of organisers. Vehicles parked on main roads or service lanes will attract fines and further action. Event organisers have been directed to inform the nearest police station in advance with complete details of the programme.

SSP Singh said organisers would be accountable for the safety and conduct of guests invited to their events. If any guest is found heavily intoxicated, the organiser must ensure the person is safely escorted home. Adequate private security arrangements at event venues have also been made compulsory in the interest of public safety.

Police officials clarified that the guidelines are not meant to curb celebrations but to ensure a peaceful and safe New Year for citizens. Organisers complying with the rules will not face any inconvenience, while violations will lead to immediate and strict action.

In view of the celebrations, additional police force will be deployed across Raipur, with heightened surveillance in sensitive areas. Night patrols, checkpoints and monitoring teams will remain active throughout New Year’s Eve to prevent accidents, crime and public disorder.
