Public Fury Over Demolition Notice: Collector’s Bungalow Surrounded

Angered by the notice to demolish over 100 houses, a large crowd gathered and surrounded the collector’s bungalow late at night, demanding immediate action and answers from the administration.

Local people have strongly opposed the proposed construction of Marine Drive in the locality adjacent to Jail Para of the city. Hundreds of people, angry at receiving notices to demolish their houses, took to the streets late Friday night and surrounded the collector's bungalow.

The protesters allege that they are being forcibly evicted without prior notice. People say that they have been living here for years and suddenly an attempt is being made to snatch their homes in the name of the Marine Drive project. It is being told that in view of the increasing traffic, Marine Drive is to be built from Naya Shani Mandir to Jail Para behind the Jute Mill (till Chhath Puja Sthal), in which more than 100 houses are coming under its purview. The Municipal Corporation has issued a notice for demolition of which. Due to which people are enraged.

As soon as a large number of people reached the Collector's Bungalow, the police administration came into action. Heavy police force was deployed on the spot at night itself so that the situation remains under control. Raigarh SDM Mahesh Sharma has reached the spot and is trying to convince the people.
