Security has been tightened across Raipur ahead of Independence Day on August 15, with police launching a special security and surveillance operation across all three zones of the city commissionerate.

More than 800 police officers and personnel are being deployed to maintain law and order and prevent any untoward incident. Police have also intensified vehicle checks and round-the-clock barricading at major entry and exit points of the city.

24-Hour Checks at Entry Points

Police teams have been conducting intensive vehicle checks at key entry and exit routes into Raipur.

The checking drive is aimed at identifying suspicious vehicles and persons and strengthening surveillance ahead of Independence Day celebrations.

Teams have also increased patrolling in sensitive and important areas of the city.

Hotels and Lodging Facilities Checked

As part of the security exercise, police are conducting detailed checks at hotels, lodges, inns, guest houses, dharamshalas and other accommodation facilities.

Officials are verifying information about people staying at these locations as part of the preventive security measures.

Foot patrols have also been increased in areas considered sensitive or likely to witness higher public movement.

Intensive Checking at Busy Locations

Special checking drives are underway at major intersections, crowded markets and other busy public locations.

Police are checking habitual offenders, individuals under surveillance and people whose activities raise suspicion.

Officials said necessary legal action would be taken if any suspicious activity is detected during the checks.

ITMS and Drones Used for Surveillance

Technology has also been incorporated into the security arrangements.

Police are using the Integrated Traffic Management System (ITMS) to monitor vehicles and traffic movement at different locations.

Drone surveillance is also being conducted in various parts of the city to provide an additional layer of monitoring, particularly around important and sensitive areas.
