A fatal road accident in Bilaspur district's Takhatapur area on Tuesday claimed the life of Brijraj, also known as Govind Mahadeeva, 42, uncle of Additional Superintendent of Police Sanjay Mahadeeva. The collision between a high-speed passenger bus and the motorcycle occurred on the main Belsari road, killing the victim on the spot.

According to initial reports, Mahadeeva was travelling to Takhatapur for personal work when the accident took place near the busy commercial stretch. Eyewitnesses said the bus, moving at considerable speed, struck the motorcycle head-on, causing severe damage to the two-wheeler.

Impact of High-Speed Impact

The force of the collision was such that pieces of the motorcycle scattered across the road following the impact. Mahadeeva suffered critical injuries and collapsed on the pavement. Bystanders immediately alerted police and emergency services, but medical intervention proved too late.

"By the time the ambulance arrived, he had already succumbed to his injuries," said a local shopkeeper who witnessed the incident.

Swift Police Response

Takhatapur police reached the scene within minutes of receiving the distress call. Officers secured the area and restored traffic flow on the congested stretch. The body was transferred to the district hospital mortuary for post-mortem examination, with formal procedures initiated the same evening.

Investigation Underway

Police have initiated a case regarding the incident. Preliminary investigations point to reckless driving as the primary cause of the accident. The bus operator has not been identified or apprehended as of the last update.

Local authorities confirmed that the road stretch where the accident occurred has been marked as an accident-prone zone due to heavy traffic and inadequate speed regulation enforcement.

Family in Shock

The unexpected death has left Mahadeeva's family in mourning. Residents of Leedari village, where the victim resided, expressed concern over mounting traffic incidents in the area.

This marks the third fatal road accident in Bilaspur district within the past fortnight, raising renewed concerns about vehicle safety and traffic management on major arterial roads.
