The seven-day Shiv Mahapurana discourse, led by renowned Pandit Pradeep Mishra, commenced in Geedam’s Harm area on December 5, with the Kalash Yatra scheduled for today, December 6. Hundreds of devotees are expected to participate in the procession, which will start from Sheetla Mata Mandir and culminate at the Harm Para event venue.
Devotees, brimming with faith, had begun arriving at the venue two days in advance to secure their places. The organizing committee is also arranging free meals for attendees throughout the week, while villagers from seven to ten nearby areas are voluntarily crafting approximately 10 lakh dona-pattal (leaf plates and bowls) to support the event.
Abhilash Tiwari, one of the committee organizers, said, “This is the first time Pandit Pradeep Mishra is conducting such a grand program here, and the enthusiasm among local residents is remarkable. Villagers are coming forward in the spirit of service to assist with preparations.”
Security and logistics have been prioritized. ASP R.K. Barman stated that 400–500 personnel will be deployed around the clock, and 80–100 CCTV cameras will monitor the venue. Three large domes have been erected to accommodate devotees, and additional arrangements include water supply through borewells and tankers, 45 temporary toilets, and facilities for overnight stay.
Parking has been organized at five locations, including VIP zones near the stage and along major connecting roads. The committee has urged participants to join the Kalash Yatra in large numbers, emphasizing orderly conduct.
Pandit Pradeep Mishra, hailing from Sehore, Madhya Pradesh, is a prominent religious storyteller known for his discourses on Shiv Purana, Bhagwat, and other Puranic texts, attracting large audiences across the region.
With extensive security, logistical planning, and enthusiastic community participation, the Shiv Mahapurana program in Geedam is set to be one of the district’s most significant religious gatherings this year, drawing over one lakh devotees daily.
