Two wheels of a diesel engine derailed on the common loop line number 4 of Belgahna yard on Bilaspur-Katni route at around 9:30 pm on Tuesday night, due to which rail traffic on this route was completely blocked. Due to this incident, many major trains had to be stopped at various stations, due to which passengers had to face great inconvenience.
Due to the accident, many trains including Durg-Ambikapur Express, Durg-Chhapra Sarnath Express, Bilaspur-Bhopal Express and Durg-Kanpur Express were stopped at stations like Bhatapara, Nipania, Tilda and Uslapur. Trains coming from Katni and Shahdol also remained standing at different stations. Railways set up help booths at these stations for the convenience of passengers.
As soon as the information about the incident was received, the Railway Engineering Department and relief team immediately left for Belgahna from Bilaspur Zone Headquarters. The railway staff worked till late night and tried to bring the diesel engine back on track. In which the railway employees got success after about 3 hours and then the railway line became normal.
