Panna Diamonds to Feature Brand Logo; GI Tag Likely by August

Panna diamonds may soon carry a brand logo as the mining department moves forward with GI tag registration. Intellectual Property India has received the proposal, and approval is expected by August.

 

The diamonds of Panna in Madhya Pradesh, famous for their gem quality in the country and the world, are now preparing to enter the market with a brand logo. These diamonds, known worldwide for their special shine, may soon get the Geographical Indication (GI) tag.

Let us tell you that on Tuesday, the Intellectual Property India office in Chennai has sought information related to the geographical area, production, number of producers and characteristics of diamonds from the mining department as per the procedure. The District Mineral Office Panna has sent this information. While the design of the people will be sent in a day or two.

Diamonds will be sold with brand logo

Let us tell you that the application for GI tag was made in the year 2023. The remaining formalities of GI tag are expected to be completed by August. After getting the tag, Panna diamonds will be able to be sold with their unique identity with 'brand logo' in the country and abroad.

Collector Suresh Kumar said that the GI tag will give legal recognition to Panna diamonds. No other area will be able to use the name of Panna. The brand value of diamonds will increase and buyers will get certified diamonds from a reliable source. Panna diamonds have a light green colour and clear carbon lines, which make them special in terms of cutting and shine.
