BJP Welcomes ID Rule for Garba Entry; Congress Raises Objections

Bhopal Collector’s order mandates ID‑proof for entry into Garba pandals, backed by the BJP as a safeguard for community safety. Congress calls it polarising and questions its motives.

Amidst the excitement of Navratri, the district administration has issued strict guidelines to strengthen security arrangements for Garba events in Bhopal. As per the Bhopal Collector's order, CCTV cameras have been installed in all Garba pandals and ID proof verification has been made mandatory for entry. BJP MLA Rameshwar Sharma has welcomed this move and praised the Chief Minister Mohan Yadav government's commitment to women's safety.

Collector Issues Garba Order
Navratri is being celebrated with great enthusiasm in the city, with Garba and Dandiya events being organized at various locations. However, keeping in mind the experiences of previous years, the administration has placed special emphasis on security this time. According to the Collector's order, organizers will be required to install high-quality CCTV cameras in the pandals and provide the footage to the district administration. Furthermore, no one will be allowed entry without a valid ID. This arrangement is being considered necessary not only to maintain peace but also to ensure the safety of sisters and daughters.

BJP MLA Rameshwar Sharma, reacting to the order, said, "The Mohan government's commitment to the safety of sisters and daughters is commendable. This order issued by the Bhopal Collector is certainly welcome." He further stressed that organizers and the district administration must remain vigilant to ensure that no Jihadi elements enter Garba pandals. Sharma warned, "Strict action will be taken against those who cast evil eyes on sisters and daughters. The government will not show any leniency in this matter."

Congress Objects to Collector's Guidelines
Meanwhile, the Congress has objected to the Bhopal Collector's order. Congress media department president Mukesh Nayak said, "For the past 10 years, it has been said every year that people of other religions will not be allowed entry. No one goes, this is just an attempt to scare them. Officials are trying to appease BJP leaders. Which constitution dictates what people will eat and how they will celebrate festivals?"
