MP to Shape Future Leaders via 110 Model Schools

Madhya Pradesh to launch 55 Navodaya and 55 Eklavya Model Residential Schools, aiming to nurture future leaders through quality education and holistic development.

Madhya Pradesh schools will prepare future leaders. An initiative to cultivate future leaders in schools has begun. Under the Central Government's "Model Youth Gram Sabha" scheme, student panchayats will be formed in 110 schools across the state.

It should be noted that student union elections have not been held in Madhya Pradesh for seven years. This is the first such experiment in the country, in which students will become Sarpanchs, Secretaries, and Gram Sabha members and learn the workings of a Panchayat. It will begin with 55 Jawahar Navodaya and 55 Eklavya Model Residential Schools. In the next phase, Kendriya Vidyalayas, Model Schools, and Excellence Schools will also be included.

The Ministry of Panchayati Raj has launched the project.

The scheme is being implemented in 1,100 schools across the country. Students will be taught skills such as preparing Panchayat budgets, planning on issues like the water crisis, and writing meeting minutes. This idea is rooted in the New Education Policy 2020.
