Thousands of devotees participated in a traditional Dindi Yatra organised by the Maharashtra Samaj in Dewas on the occasion of Ashadhi Ekadashi, with the city resonating with chants of "Vitthal... Vitthal... Jai Hari Vitthal." Accompanied by rhythmic dhol-tasha performances and traditional Lezim dance, the religious procession drew enthusiastic participation from devotees dressed in traditional attire.

Procession Begins with Maha Aarti

The Dindi Yatra commenced from the Maharashtra Samaj premises after the ceremonial worship of Lord Vitthal and Goddess Rukmini, followed by a Maha Aarti. A beautifully decorated palanquin carrying the idols of Lord Vitthal Pandharinath led the procession as devotees sang devotional hymns and performed continuous naam sankirtan along the route.

Traditional Music and Lezim Performance

One of the major attractions of the procession was the vibrant presentation of Lezim dance by women and young girls from the Maharashtra community. Their performances, synchronised with the beats of traditional dhol and tasha, added colour and cultural significance to the celebrations.

Throughout the procession, devotees performed bhajans and kirtans, creating a devotional atmosphere across the city.

Procession Passes Through Major City Roads

The religious procession travelled through several prominent locations, including Novelty Square, Tehsil Square and Shani Mandir Square, before reaching the Vitthal Temple of Shri Phadnis Ji.

At the temple, special prayers and Maha Aarti were offered to Lord Vitthal, marking the spiritual culmination of the yatra.

Warm Welcome Along the Route

Several social and religious organisations welcomed the procession by showering flower petals on devotees and the palanquin at different points along the route. The gesture reflected the festive spirit and community participation associated with the annual Ashadhi Ekadashi celebrations.

Following the temple rituals, the Dindi Yatra returned to the Maharashtra Samaj premises, where the programme concluded with additional religious ceremonies and devotional activities.
