The protest, led by BJP Madhya Pradesh president Hemant Khandelwal, was organised near the Red Cross Square in the state capital. BJP workers gathered in large numbers carrying placards and banners criticising the Congress leadership and raising slogans against Rahul Gandhi.

Security arrangements were tightened in anticipation of the demonstration, particularly around the Madhya Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) headquarters. Police personnel were deployed at both entrances of the Congress office, while barricades were erected on roads leading to the premises.

The situation became tense when BJP leaders and workers attempted to march towards the Congress office after assembling at Red Cross Square. Among those participating in the protest were BJP MLAs Bhagwandas Sabnani and Rameshwar Sharma, along with district president Ravi Dubey and other party functionaries.

As the procession moved towards the PCC office, police stopped the protesters near the Link Road close to Red Cross Hospital. Authorities prevented the group from advancing further by placing barricades across the route.

Following the intervention, BJP workers raised slogans and continued their protest from behind the barricades. Some demonstrators also threw placards and posters in the direction of the police deployment while expressing their opposition to the Congress.

One participant attracted attention by arriving at the protest dressed as a clown. The individual wore a poster on his T-shirt carrying a slogan critical of Rahul Gandhi, a move that drew interest from both party workers and bystanders at the site.

Despite the initial tension, the demonstration remained brief.

The protest lasted for approximately ten minutes before BJP leaders and workers dispersed from the area. No major law-and-order incident was reported during the event, and police maintained control of the situation throughout the protest.

Speaking to reporters after the demonstration, Hemant Khandelwal described the protest as a warning to the Congress. He alleged that the opposition party had crossed political limits through its recent actions and said the BJP would continue to oppose such moves.

Khandelwal stated that Wednesday’s programme was only a symbolic protest and suggested that stronger demonstrations could follow if the Congress failed to change its approach. His remarks reflected the increasingly confrontational tone that has characterised political exchanges between the BJP and Congress in recent weeks.

The protest comes amid heightened political activity across the country, with both parties frequently targeting each other over parliamentary issues, governance matters and public demonstrations. The latest controversy stems from opposition protests in the national capital, which have triggered sharp reactions from BJP leaders at both national and state levels.

Political observers note that such demonstrations often serve a dual purpose—mobilising party workers while also sending a political message to supporters and opponents. In Madhya Pradesh, where the BJP remains in power, public protests against the Congress have become a recurring feature of the political landscape.

While Wednesday’s protest concluded peacefully, the sharp statements exchanged between leaders indicate that political tensions between the two parties are unlikely to ease anytime soon. Further demonstrations and counter-campaigns could be expected as both sides continue to position themselves ahead of future political contests.
