In Jabalpur, two innocent brothers died in a tragic accident on Sunday evening. Both had jumped into the hospital premises to retrieve a ball while playing cricket, where they lost their lives after falling into an open septic tank.
The incident occurred between approximately 5:30 and 6 PM. Vinayak Vishwakarma (10) and Kanha Vishwakarma, residents of Trimurti Nagar, were playing cricket with their friends. During the game, when Kanha swung the bat, the ball fell inside the government hospital located in Manmohan Nagar.
Since it was a holiday, the hospital was locked. The children climbed over the boundary wall to get inside, but couldn't see the open tank amidst the bushes and fell into it.
Friends called the family when the children did not return When both did not come out for a long time, friends informed the family. After this, the family and neighbors reached the spot and informed the police. Gohalpur police station and municipal corporation team searched the tank. First, slippers were found, and then after some time, the bodies of both children were recovered.
Allegations of negligence against hospital management Local people have accused the hospital management of serious negligence. They say that the presence of an open tank in such a large government hospital and the absence of any warning board or safety arrangements on it shows the management's responsibility.
Police interrogating hospital management Gohalpur police station in-charge Ritesh Pandey said that the bodies of both children have been sent to the medical college for post-mortem. Hospital management is being questioned as to why the tank lid was open and why no responsible employee was present at the site during cleaning.
Congress will protest tomorrow After the accident, a pall of gloom has descended on the area. Congress leader Amrish Mishra and former corporator Jitin Raj reached the spot and protested, saying that on Monday, a protest would be held against the negligence of the municipal corporation and hospital management, so that the children can get justice.
