Two girls, including a 2-month-old infant, died after a kutcha house collapsed in Chhatarpur. One woman was injured and hospitalised.

A tragic incident in Chhatarpur’s Kyota village claimed the lives of a 13-year-old girl and a two-month-old infant after a kutcha house collapsed during the night. A woman was seriously injured and is undergoing treatment at the district hospital.

Two children died and a woman was seriously injured after a kutcha house collapsed in Kyota village under Hinouta police station area of Madhya Pradesh’s Chhatarpur district during the night.The incident took place around 1 am, when family members were sleeping inside the house. Suddenly, the walls and structure of the mud house collapsed, trapping the occupants under the debris.The deceased have been identified as 13-year-old Rachna and two-month-old Himanshi. The injured woman, identified as Hema Kevat, was rescued and referred to the district hospital for treatment.

Villagers started rescue operation

According to family members, the collapse happened without warning while everyone was asleep.Hearing the sound of the falling structure, nearby residents rushed to the spot and started removing debris to rescue those trapped inside.Local people helped pull out the injured woman and informed the authorities.

Two children died, woman seriously injured

Family members said that Rachna and infant Himanshi were buried under the debris and could not be saved.Hema Kevat suffered serious injuries in the incident and was taken to hospital for medical treatment.The incident left the family in deep shock, with relatives and villagers gathering at the spot after the tragedy.

Minister visits hospital

After receiving information about the accident, local MLA and Minister Dilip Ahirwar reached the district hospital and met the injured woman.He took information about her health condition from doctors and reviewed the treatment arrangements.

Police begin investigation

Police reached the spot after the incident and collected information about the collapse.The bodies of the deceased children were sent for post-mortem examination. After completion of the process, the bodies were handed over to the family for the last rites.The family performed the final rituals amid a mourning atmosphere in the village.

The incident has once again highlighted the risks faced by families living in old and weak structures, especially during the monsoon season when mud houses can become vulnerable.Authorities are expected to assess the situation and provide necessary assistance to the affected family.
