Class 9 Student Crushed to Death by Tractor in Shahdol: Driver Flees After Accident Involving Illegal Sand Transport

A tragic incident unfolded in Shahdol district on Sunday when a Class 9 student was run over by a tractor-trolley loaded with illegally mined sand, leading to his death on the spot. The accident occurred in Mazurha Tola of Pasgarhi village, under the jurisdiction of Beohari Police Station.

The victim, identified as Prince Singh Gond, was accompanying tractor driver Vinod Singh Gond during the return journey from a nearby river, where they had allegedly loaded sand illegally. According to initial reports, the tractor lost balance on a rough stretch of road, causing Prince to fall from the vehicle.

Moments later, the tractor’s rear wheel ran over the student, fatally crushing him. He died instantly.

Driver Flees, Tractor Seized

The driver abandoned the vehicle and fled the scene after the accident. Upon receiving the information, local police reached the spot and seized the tractor. A case has been registered against the driver, and a search operation is underway to trace his whereabouts.

Police officials confirmed that the sand was being transported illegally without a mining permit, a practice increasingly prevalent in the region. The vehicle involved in the accident will be subject to further investigation under both transport and mining regulations.

Community in Mourning

The shocking death of the young boy has left the local community in grief and anger. Residents have called for stricter enforcement of laws to curb the illegal sand mining operations that often involve unsafe and unregulated vehicle movements.

Authorities have assured the victim’s family that appropriate legal action will be taken, and the matter is being investigated thoroughly.
