CM Mohan Yadav Visits Indore Zoo, Names Bison

During his Indore Zoo visit, CM Dr. Mohan Yadav highlights Madhya Pradesh's rich wildlife heritage and names four bison—Rudra, Kalki, Tapi, and Tulsi.

Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav visited Indore Zoo and, speaking about its wildlife, said that Madhya Pradesh is extremely rich in forests and wildlife, thanks to God's grace. The state government is continuously striving to ensure the safety and protection of all forest animals. The Chief Minister explained that many species had become extinct over time, but the government is making efforts to bring them back. Citing the example of the cobra snake, which was found in Madhya Pradesh until about 60-70 years ago, he said it has now been reintroduced to the state. New species have also been introduced to Indore Zoo.

Pairs of wild buffalo and ostriches were recently introduced here.

A pair of bison, named Rudra, Kalki, Tapi, and Tulsi, arrived here. The Chief Minister said this is a matter of pride for the entire state. He explained that previously, a pair of lions from Indore was donated to another state, and in exchange, the state has received pairs of wild buffalo (wizen) and ostriches. Although the ostrich is not a flying bird, it enhances the state's biodiversity and prestige. Similarly, zebras from South Africa are also raising their families in Indore.

The government's aim is to ensure balance and conservation in every region.

He said that bison are thriving well in the Kanha Tiger Reserve. There are plans to introduce more species, such as the antelope, in the future. The Chief Minister also said that for the first time, the Asiatic cheetah is successfully raising a family in Madhya Pradesh, which is a major achievement for the state. After Shivpuri, cheetahs have now been released in the Gandhi Sagar Sanctuary. The government's aim is to ensure balance and conservation in every region, so that future generations can also observe and understand these wild animals.
