Death in Police Custody: Outpost In-Charge, Havaldar Suspended

In a case of death in police custody, the SSP has suspended the outpost in-charge and a havildar. Action was taken after rising anger over the incident.

The SSP has taken major action in the case of death in police custody of the district. In the case of death of Iqbal Khan, Joraasi police outpost in-charge Poonam Katare and havildar Shivkant Pandey have been suspended. Gwalior SSP Dharamveer Singh has taken this action.

Actually, Joraasi police outpost in-charge Poonam Katare of Gwalior Dehat Bilua police station had received information from an informer that five people are going from Gwalior to Datia in an Ertiga car via Gwalior Dabra highway. They have 3 lakh rupees in old notes. On information, the car was stopped in which five people were sitting and on searching the car, three lakh rupees in old 500-500 notes were found.

The police took him to the outpost for interrogation regarding the notes. During interrogation, it was found that Iqbal Khan, a resident of Bhander in Datia district, had come to Gwalior with his companions to exchange these old notes. When the process of changing notes seemed wrong, they were going back to Bhander. Iqbal's health deteriorated during police interrogation. He was taken to Dabra Civil Hospital in a critical condition where the doctors referred him to Jayarogya Hospital after seeing his critical condition, but he died before reaching the hospital.
