Heavy rains wreak havoc in Shahdol, schools and roads submerged

Torrential rainfall in Shahdol has flooded school premises and roads, turning them into ponds and rivers. The situation poses a serious threat to the safety of children and residents.
The intermittent rain for the last 12 hours in Shahdol district of Madhya Pradesh has disrupted the normal life of the people. The rain has turned the roads into rivers and the schools into ponds. The situation is such that innocent children were seen coming and going to school through knee-deep water. The torrential rain exposed the poor condition of drains and waterlogging in the city. Due to the sudden rain, rivers started flowing on the roads and water entered the houses. The situation worsened so much that the Government Primary School Dhanpuri Number Bazar located in Ward No. 17 also got submerged. So far, an average rainfall of 831.1 mm has been recorded in the district.
After the rain, the school premises got filled with knee-deep water. The situation is such that innocent students are forced to come and go to school through the drenched water, risking their lives. At any moment, children can slip and fall or become victims of some untoward incident. The torrential rain exposed the poor condition of drains and waterlogging in the city.
Due to the sudden rain, rivers started flowing on the roads and water entered the houses, people kept coming and going on the submerged roads risking their lives. Local people say that due to lack of proper drainage system, this situation arises every time it rains. Due to the negligence of the administration, the school turns into a pond and small children have to face a lot of trouble.
