In Maihar, Lover Shoots Girlfriend’s Father Dead; Angry Over Refusal for Marriage

According to reports, between 8 and 9 pm on Sunday evening, Mahendra Singh was walking outside his house after dinner when the accused, Dhruv Kumar, who had been lying in wait, arrived on a bike with an accomplice and fired a bullet from a country-made pistol into Mahendra Singh’s chest.

Hearing the gunshot, family members rushed to the scene and found Mahendra Singh lying in a pool of blood. The two accused fled on the bike. Upon receiving information, police immediately registered a case and started searching for the accused.

It is reported that Mahendra Singh’s daughter met Dhruv Kumar in 2023. They became friends and later developed a romantic relationship. Dhruv Kumar wanted to marry her, but Mahendra Singh did not accept their relationship. Despite repeated requests, the accused continued to follow the girl. Frustrated, Mahendra Singh had even beaten Dhruv Kumar a few days ago.

Police Station In-Charge Tikaram Kurmi said the accused is from near Jhansi, Uttar Pradesh. Police teams are actively searching for him. The village is engulfed in mourning and silence. The family is angry and demanding senior officials to visit the site and take appropriate action.
