Madhya Pradesh is set to celebrate India’s 80th Independence Day on August 15, 2026, with state-level celebrations in Bhopal, flag-hoisting ceremonies across district headquarters, cultural programmes and public participation activities.

The main state ceremony will be held at the Lal Parade Ground in Bhopal, where Chief Minister Dr Mohan Yadav will hoist the national flag. The ceremony will be followed by a parade, inspection of contingents, the national anthem and the Chief Minister’s address to the people of Madhya Pradesh.

Main Ceremony in Bhopal

The state-level Independence Day programme will begin at the Lal Parade Ground in the morning. Chief Minister Mohan Yadav is scheduled to hoist the Tricolour at around 9 am.

The ceremony will include a march-past and parade by police and security contingents. Awards and medals are also expected to be presented to personnel and citizens for outstanding service and acts of bravery.

Playback singer Kavita Krishnamurti and accompanying artists are scheduled to perform patriotic songs during the musical evening.

A special patriotic poetry programme will also be organised at Pushpagiri Teerth in Sonkatch, Dewas, at around 7 pm.

The programme, being organised with the support of the Culture Department, will feature patriotic poetry and a Kavi Sammelan. Poets are expected to present works centred on patriotism, India's freedom movement and nation-building.

Har Ghar Tiranga Campaign

The Independence Day celebrations are also being linked with the Har Ghar Tiranga campaign, under which public participation activities are being organised across Madhya Pradesh.

The campaign is scheduled to continue from August 9 to August 17, with activities including Tiranga rallies, awareness programmes and events encouraging citizens to display the national flag.
