Shiva Devotion Peaks in Sawan at Swayambhu Gupteshwar Mahadev Temple

During the holy month of Sawan, a large number of devotees gathered at the Swayambhu Gupteshwar Mahadev temple. The temple witnessed a special decoration of Lord Shiva as part of the religious celebrations.

Sawan month has started from today, since morning the chants of Bhole are resonating in Shiva temples. A large number of devotees are reaching the Shiva temples of Jabalpur to worship. In Swayambhu Gupteshwar Mahadev temple, a fair of devotees is also held especially in Sawan. Here the devotees are doing Abhishek of the Lord since morning. In the evening, the Lord is specially adorned in different forms for a month. Special arrangements have also been made for the worship of the devotees.

Specialty of the temple

It is said that when Lord Shri Ram went out with brother Laxman and Mother Sita during the exile, he once also came to the banks of Mother Narmada. This is also mentioned in the Puranas. It is said that when Lord Shri Ram wished to meet Jabali Rishi, he came to the banks of Narmada. During this time, he worshiped his beloved Mahadev, for which he made a Shivling from sand, since then this temple came into existence in the year 1890.
